The metaverse feels like some science fiction reality doesn’t it? It was in 1992 that the term “the Metaverse” first appeared in Neal Stephenson’s third novel “Snow Crash“. It was a digital environment where appearances change quickly and digital real estate holds real-world value.

Fast forward 28 years and you’ll find yourself immersed in that same reality. But how do you learn how to invest in the metaverse? With multiple metaverses and cryptocurrencies to explore, it can be a lot to swallow at first.

Let us be your shepherd in the metaverse experience. Keep reading to open your eyes to this emerging space.

How to Invest in the Metaverse

Before we dive into how to invest in the metaverse, there are certain things you’ll need to be aware of first. You will be investing real money (cryptocurrencies) and with that comes great risk and responsibility. With that said, we advise you to do your own research (DYOR) when it comes to the team, advisors, and community.

Tokens

Depending on which metaverse projects you’re after, you’ll need a certain coin or token to be able to purchase an in-metaverse item (NFT/non-fungible token). For example, with Decentraland you will need to have MANA in your possession, and with The Sandbox, you’ll need SAND.

Land and NFTs

When learning how to invest in the metaverse, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with virtual real estate. Popular metaverse projects include Decentraland, The Sandbox, Axie Infinity, and The Uplift World.

In order to be able to purchase land, you’ll first need a cryptocurrency wallet like MetaMask. Connect the wallet to the marketplace. From there you will be able to find a metaverse NFT (land, art, clothing, etc.) to buy.

When you have a metaverse NFT such as land in your possession, you are free to do what you wish. Want to host a live event in the future? You can do so!

When you buy land and NFTs in the metaverse and elsewhere, it’s important to note that you truly own it. Just be sure to write down your seed phrase and/or private keys.

Stocks

Metaverse stocks are yet one more way you can invest. Pay attention to which projects even offer stock and which are crypto-based only.

Meta (formerly Facebook) is one option. They have released Horizon Worlds, and are behind the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset. Roblox is another popular choice allowing Roblox users to create and share their virtual worlds with one another.

The Future Is Now

Don’t blink, you may just miss the future. If you haven’t read Snow Crash, we highly recommend it to get a glimpse of what is happening now.

Learning how to invest in the metaverse will take some time. Take all the necessary time you need to research and make wise investment choices. Once you get your feet wet, you will find beautiful new metaverses to explore and enjoy.
