Pariyerum Perumal Movie Plot
Pariyerum Perumal tells the story of a young man from Puliyankulam village near Tirunelveli. The caste of Pariyan (Kathir) that Pariyerum Perumal alias belongs to is oppressed. It begins with the brutal murder of his beloved black dog ‘Karuppi’ (literally, Blackie in Tamil). Pariyan’s canine hunting companion is the first to fall victim to caste hegemony.
After securing a seat in a law college, Pariyan hopes to become a lawyer like B.R. Ambedkar. Jothi Mahalakshmi alias Jo (Anandhi) is a naive girl from Ambasamudram who decides to help Pariyan learn English. Eventually, she falls in love with his innocence and honesty. Sankaralingam (Lijeesh), Jo’s cousin and a fellow law student, is irked by this new friendship. He anticipates the opportunity to teach a lesson to Pariyan and prove his superiority in the caste. The blissfully unaware Jo does this while inviting Pariyan to a family wedding.
A man (Thatha Maistry) is seen in another part of town committing unusual and cunning acts of killing, like strangling a girl then hanging her and drowning a student in the river. As a result of the wedding invitation he is attending, Pariyan almost dies and is urinated on by Sankaralingam and his friends. Pariyan was stopped by Jo’s father (G. Marimuthu) and told to stay away from his daughter. Unaware of all this, Pariyan shouts at Jo the next day for not attending his sister’s wedding as he had only been invited to the college as a whole. Jo was left crying and had a fight with Paryan over his answers.
