Boaters who want fast speed and want an adrenaline rush are better off with a PWC instead of cruising peacefully on the water. There are two common types of personal watercraft: Sea-Doos and WaveRunners. WaveRunners and Sea Doo for Sale may look similar, but they differ in important ways.

WHY DO SEA-DOOS EXIST?

A sit-down watercraft was developed by Sea-Doo in the 1960s. Due to competition from brands such as Yamaha, Sea-Doo, which is part of Bombardier Recreational Products, eventually withdrew from the industry. A decade later, the company returned with new models to successfully compete against Yamaha and Kawasaki. Due to its affordable prices and innovative accessories, Sea-Doo is a popular PWC.

WHERE CAN I FIND WAVERUNNERS?

The first WaveRunner was released by Yamaha in 1986. They designed it to be fun, reliable, and functional, and it has continued to meet those standards over the years. A WaveRunner is a sit-down PWC that can accommodate one or two people, depending on the model. It is designed for both cruising and speed. Even though the WaveRunner emphasizes performance, it also comes with plenty of storage space and other luxurious features.

WHAT’S BETTER, SEA-DOO OR WAVERUNNER?

There are many models, styles, and colors available for both the Sea-Doo and WaveRunner. It may seem overwhelming to choose between the two main types of PWCs and their many options, but it really comes down to personal preference.

PWCs are typically divided into six categories:

  • Stand up
  • Recreational
  • Recreational light
  • Performance
  • Luxury
  • Tow-sports

You may find these categories when researching Sea-Doos and WaveRunners. What a PWC is designed for will determine how it operates and handles on the water. If you’re planning on taking your PWC out during the summer for casual boating with your friends, a recreational model will most likely suit your needs better than a luxury or performance model.

As you think about what you need from your PWC, don’t forget to consider other aspects, such as whether you’d prefer to ride alone or with passengers. Another important consideration is whether you want a sit-down or stand-up model. You may be able to narrow down your options by choosing which you feel more comfortable operating.

One of the best ways to determine your preferences is to test drive some models!
